Get ready for the 2nd annual Summer Karate Jamboree!!!!!

Hosted by the faithful League Coordinators (Valerie & Rod Padua, Veronica Yumang, Shannon Looper, and Roman & Antonette Pastor) this event will allow competitors to compete in multiple head to head matches in Kata and Sparring in their age classes in one hour blocks throughout the day! This exciting new concept will also earn competitors valuable points in the NORTHERN CALIFORNIA ELITE Conference on the road to World League Finals XIII!!

The Jamboree will allow coaches to develop fighter/coach chemistry with the numerous fights in sparring a player will accumulate during the one hour competition block! Competitors can also compete multiple times with different katas to find out which kata may be best to use at World League Finals XIII in October! This is also a fabulous event to develop competition stamina and endurance. It’s almost an Open Mat Scrimmage fused with a Regular Season Karate Tournament!

Much like Junior Football and Junior Soccer Jamboree events, this karate Jamboree allows the competitor multiple matches in a competitive setting. Everyone earns 50 League points in the Conference. We’ll have more detailed rules posted soon!!!! Mark this event on your summer calendars, we guarantee it will be the best new concept in sport martial arts!!

1. What is a Jamboree?

a. A Jamboree is a series of scrimmage matches against various opponents in head-to-head competition crunched within an one hour time block.

b. An incentive of a Jamboree is to compete in more matches than a competitor would typically compete in an average regular season tournament

c. Competitors will compete multiple times with NO PLACING POSITIONS (1st/2nd/3rd). All competitors receive 40 Rating Points to be applied to the Northern California Elite Conference.

d. Every participant will receive a pristine custom award for every division entered.

2. What are the benefits of participating?

a. This is a great way to work on the fine movements and fundamentals in katas and various in-ring situations to improve your fightstyle for

sparring competition.

b. An incredible way to keep competitors in strong mid-season form during the long, lazy summer months in preparation for October’s League Finals

3. How many times will I compete?

a. Competitors will compete as many times that time allows in a one hour time block against competitors in their specific division.

b. If there are no other competitors in a division, they will compete against another competitor of a close age/belt range

4. How will forms run?

a. Competitors will compete Head-To-Head in Katas. Meaning, one competitor will go one-on-one against another competitor in their division. After both competitors perform their form, judges will view the Kata Scoring Sheet and Hand Point to the competitor they scored the highest.

b. If there are multiple competitors in a division, a competitor will continue to compete Head-To-Head against other competitors as many times possible in the one hour time block.

c. Regular League Rules apply (see Rulebook on www.TheLeagueMA.com)

d. There may be as few as One Judge and as many as Three Judges officiating Kata Divisions

5. How will sparring run?

a. Fighters will compete Head-To-Head against another fighter in their division.

b. All matches are 1:30 minutes long

c. 10 point ceiling, 5 point spread

d. Regular League Rules apply (see Rulebook on www.TheLeagueMA.com)

e. There may be as few as One Judge and as many as Three Judges officiating Sparring Divisions

f. No Coaching Timeouts are allowed in Jamboree competition. Coaches/Players must communicate in the flow of the match or before/after matches

6. Will there be Chess Sparring? Awards for Chess?

a. Yes, there will be Chess Sparring during the 1:30pm Time Block

b. Custom awards to be awarded to each member of the 1st and 2nd place winning team up to 6 members.

7. Is coaching recommended?

a. Coaching is highly recommended to guide students through sparring in-fight situations and to coach students before/after kata performances

b. All Coaches must purchase a Coaches Pass to be on the Competition Floor coaching students

c. Because coaching will be recommended this may affect the number of judges available. Therefore there can be as few as 1 judge officiating competition

8. Why should beginners compete?

a. Jamboree competition is perfect for Beginner’s to build self confidence, competition resiliency, and learn how to be at ease performing in front of

an audience.

b. Beginners should compete to get them as many kata rounds/sparring matches that a one hour time block will allow, helping them become more

comfortable with the vigors of open competition

9. Why should veterans compete?

a. Veterans can work on fine-tuning their fight style in sparring OR work on newer advanced katas they haven’t tried in competition yet.

b. In Katas, veterans can compete multiple times to determine which kata is best used during the League Finals
